All participant are entitled for free participation in short hands-on workshops during the conference.
The confirmed schedule will be announced later.
However, interested participants are requested to make pre-register as the seat is limited for each slot on first-come-first-serve basis.
The workshop registration link will be emailed and notified after conference payment has been completed.

 


Workshop A: Engaging Learners and Fostering  HOTS in Science Classrooms

Instructor: Associate Profesor Dr. Nurulhuda Abd Rahman

Duration: 2 hours

Maximum number participants: 30​

Synopsis:    The objective of the workshop is to enhance participants' knowledge and skills of the ways and techniques to engage learners and at the same time foster higher order thinking skills in teaching and learning science. Participants will be engaged in mostly hands-on activities that demonstrate techniques such as concept mapping, think-pair-share, POE, six thinking hats, Suchman inquiry, 5W 1H, effective questioning and more.

Workshop B: Innovative use of Smartphone Built-in Sensor for Simple Scientific Investigation 

Instructor: Dr. Tho Siew Wei 

Duration: 2 hours

Maximum number participants: 30

Synopsis: With the rapid advancement of technology, a Smartphone is not only a mobile device that is used for communication but is also integrated with other technological abilities, for example, camera, built-in acceleration, magnetic, barometer, temperature and light sensors. This handheld device has become very popular among the younger generation. The price of the device has also dropped as demand has increased and the latest model released. Therefore, Smartphone technology has the potential to serve as an excellent tool for science teachers or students to conduct scientific investigation and learn scientific concepts. In this workshop, participants are given the chance to explore the functions of the Smartphone’s built-in sensors with free applications and experience the indoor and outdoor science activities.

Workshop C: How to Gamify Your Classroom

Instructor: Dr Muhammad Fadhil Wong Bin Abdullah
Duration: 2 hours
Maximum number participant: 20

Synopsis: What participant is expected to learn/Benefit/etc: By the end of the 2-hour workshop participants should be able to understand the process of gamifying a course delivery in a variety of learning contexts.

Workshop D: Artificial Intelligence Application in Producing Educational Videos

Instructor: Dr. Hafiz Hanif
Duration: 2 hours
Maximum number participant: 50

Synopsis: This workshop aimed at introducing fellow educators to the use of Artificial Intelligence in the production of educational/instructional videos. Participants will be exposed to the use of an online video authoring tool that can potentially speed up the production of videos for the purpose of education. 

Participant preparation to join the workshop:  The workshop requires participants to bring along their own laptops, charger, extension wire (if needed) and digitised materials to be used in the production of the video (preferably in English).
